Rebuilding the MyHall micro-college portal

MyHall connects students, tutors, and local Halls across a network of micro-colleges built on the Oxford tutorial model. I led the team on it.

The platform already existed, built by a previous team, and it had reached the point where adding functionality cost more than it returned. Inheriting a codebase in that state means deciding what to keep, and rebuilding underneath a live user base without an interruption they would notice.

• › Led the team through a rebuild of the platform onto a new architecture, in Laravel on PostgreSQL.
• › Took over the previous team's solution and established what carried forward and what did not.
• › Added the management functionality the network needed on top of the new architecture.

• › Rebuilt platform in production across the Halls network.
