Voxxed Days Crete 2025: A Developer’s Journey Through Innovation and Inspiration
From September 26-27, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Voxxed Days Crete, one of the most prestigious developer conferences in the Mediterranean. Nestled in the beautiful island of Crete, this two-day event had very interesting topics not only in software development, also offering a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology insights.
I saw that local community support was very active and could noticed that software community on Crete is really strong, i have also joined one of their groups called DevStaff.
The Conference Experience: More Than Just Talks
Voxxed Days Crete wasn’t just another tech conference – it was an experience that combined professional development with cultural immersion. The venue, set against the backdrop of Crete’s breathtaking landscapes, provided the perfect environment for learning, networking, and inspiration.

Let’s go through this event with topics that were interesting to me.
Day 1: Diving Deep into Modern Development Practices
The first day kicked off with an energy that was palpable from the moment I walked through the doors. The conference organizers had done an exceptional job creating an atmosphere that was both professional and welcoming.
Opening Keynote: How to survive as a developer in the exponential age of AI
The conference began with a thought-provoking keynote that set the tone for the entire event. We are all aware how AI is interferes in our lives, so this talk was good start. Speaker discussed how modern software architecture is evolving beyond traditional patterns, exploring AI’s benefits and adaption strategies and what could we do to better understand AI.

Are your tests good enough?
I was very interested in this topic since tests are standard part of every software development. The topic was really good and presenter showed us how to distinguish bad and good test. Speaker explained that quality of tests isn’t measured through code coverage levels.

and of the most valuable sessions I attended was a deep dive into real-world microservices implementations. The presenter shared candid insights about both successes and failures, echoing many of the experiences I’ve had in my own career. The discussion around when microservices make sense versus when they create unnecessary complexity was particularly enlightening.
It works on My Machine: Why Engineers Are Misunderstood (and What They Can Do About It)
Then there was one Quickie about engineers get in the way of collaboration and influence. Interesting and relaxing talk.

From Space to Code: Using NASA’s Open Data APIs with Kepler
After launch there was very interesting talk with a lot of images from space, Mars and Earth. I was really enjoying space photography in this talk. Personally, the most interesting were pictures from Mars showing rover on the Red planet. Speaker talked about Nasa API for Rover and Asteroids, also how to find K2-18B with Nasa, btw. it’s 124 light-years from Earth.

The talk “The Hacker’s Guide to Kubernetes” had some problems to start, but at the end it was ok.

Front end development in 2040
This one was really something good. Speaker gave us some of his own predictions what does he think how FE will look in the future. I must admit that I agree with him in most of the things, definetely part that some of this frameworks like React, Vue or Angular will be gone.

Day 1 was done with funny Keynote “Don’t be an Idiot“, arguing about modern standards and open collaborations.
Day 2: The Networking Experience: Connections That Matter
I have spent day two talking with most of the sponsors and with other devs on the conference.
Modernizing the Legacy
Second day started with this talk. Really good speaker and good topic with a lot of explanation how to moredernize code, how to migrate to microservices, how to organize the team etc. I can only say I really enjoyed this talk, and so far it was the best talk.

Investing for geeks v1.1.0
It is not all in the code, this was really short refreshing talk, and advices were really good how we all can do better some finance math and save our budget.

Artifical, yes; Intelligent no.
Well, I tought that I have listen the best talk, but then this one came. The way how speaker represented this topic was really exeptional and the most interesting so far. His insights about AI were really worth of listening.

After this one, there was lunch and after lunch there were few more topics, but honestly I wasn’t delighted so much. It was interesting, but I think the best part was gone.
During the conference there was competition, and luckily I’ve got third place which brings me Samsung Battery Pack :).
Voxxed Days Crete 2025 was more than just a technology conference – it was an experience that combined professional development with cultural immersion. The combination of high-quality technical content, excellent networking opportunities, and the stunning backdrop of Crete created an environment that was both educational and inspiring.
The conference reinforced many of the principles I’ve learned through my own experiences in software development, while also introducing me to new ideas and perspectives that will influence my approach to future projects. The emphasis on pragmatic decision-making, the importance of understanding your specific context, and the human side of technology were particularly valuable takeaways.
Exploring Heraklion
Before and after conference, I had the opportunity to explore Heraklion, the capital of Crete. The city’s rich history, from ancient Minoan civilization to Venetian architecture, provided a fascinating backdrop to the modern technology discussions.
I really enjoyed working close to the sea, having lunch and drinks.

Also, walking through this city was really nice, Heraklion really has a lot of to show. Definetely I will come back here again.
